Globally, electric car sales have been soaring. The top three bestsellers in the first quarter of 2025 are BYD, Tesla Series Y and Volkswagen ID4. BYD has delivered nearly 1 million vehicles, of which 416,000 are all-electric, easily beating Tesla which only sold 337,000.

Tesla Series Y is still a firm favourite in the UK, with 1,990 units registered in February alone.
