To earn Pod Rewards, or subscribe to Pod Drive, you'll need to be on a standard or time-of-use tariff, like Pod Power by EDF.
On a smart EV tariff? That's where your energy supplier controls your charging. You can still use your Pod Point charger, but Pod Rewards and the Pod Drive subscription won't be available.
Smart tariffs include: Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Intelligent Drive Pack, Octopus Agile, OVO Charge Anytime, Scottish Power EV Optimise, E.ON Next Drive Smart, and other similar tariffs.

Pod Point chargers don't integrate with wider home smart tech such as smart speakers or appliances but you can control your Pod Point remotely using our app. Simply download the Pod Home app and connect your charger to your home Wi-Fi. Once connected you'll be able to earn cash for smart charging, get helpful notifications about your charging, securely lock your charger, access charging activity data, and much more.
What's the difference?
Tethered chargers have a cable permanently attached, so you’ll never have to think about where your cable is. You can simply park up and plug in. An untethered charger has a socket for you or your visitors to plug a separate cable into.
What's best for me?
As the tethered charger has a cable attached, there's no need to rummage around in your car or garage to find it, which is ideal if you lead a busy lifestyle.
If you already have your own charging cable, you might prefer an untethered charger as it's more cost-effective.
Our standard installation covers the majority of UK homes. It includes fitting your Pod Point charger to a suitable wall or structure, up to 15 metres of cable neatly routed from your electricity supply to the charger, all electrical connections and protections, and additional adequately sized consumer unit, if needed. You'll need to be home for the duration, and we'll send you a pre-installation survey beforehand to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
